ISO tank containers - H&M Tank Containers

Reliable transport by road, rail, and sea

Standard ISO tank containers are the global benchmark for the safe transport and storage of liquids, chemicals, and food products. Thanks to their standardized dimensions and robust design, they can be seamlessly integrated into every stage of the supply chain.

This combination ensures maximum product protection, long service life, and exceptional safety during handling and transport.

Each tank container is equipped with a stainless‑steel barrel fitted into a steel frame available in 20ft, 23ft, and 25ft configurations.

Configurations and capacity from 15,000 liters to 36,000 liters

Standard tank containers are available in various capacities, typically ranging from 15,000 to 36,000 liters. They comply with international standards such as ISO, CSC, TIR, ADR/RID, IMDG, and UN Portable Tank Codes, making them suitable for worldwide use.

Tank types explained (T1–T75 series)

ISO tank containers are classified according to the international T‑code system, which defines the design pressure, construction, and cargo suitability:

  • T1–T22 (liquid tanks) – A pressure‑based classification for liquid cargoes.
    • T1 = lowest pressure rating, suitable for mild, non‑hazardous products.
    • T22 = highest pressure rating within the liquid tank series, suitable for higher‑hazard or more demanding chemical products.
  • T50 (gas tanks) – Designed for the transport of liquefied gases under pressure, including LPG, ammonia, and refrigerants.
  • T75 (cryogenic tanks) – Engineered for ultra‑low‑temperature gases such as LNG, liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen, helium, and argon.

Built to ISO 1496/3, IMDG, and/or ADR standards, each tank container provides a durable, reusable, and internationally compliant solution for the safe transport of liquids and gases.

Optional features include steam or hot-water heating, thermal insulation, internal baffles, and GPS tracking for temperature and location monitoring.

Safety and Sustainability

Safety is a key priority in the design of ISO tank containers. They can withstand high pressure (up to 6 bar test pressure) and temperatures up to 130°C. Double safety valves, pressure-relief systems, and high-quality insulation materials ensure optimal protection for both product and environment.

ISO tank containers also promote sustainable logistics: they are reusable, low-maintenance, and designed for long-term use. Their standardized construction allows for easy cleaning, refurbishment, and re-use, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of liquid transport operations.

Applications

Standard ISO tank containers are widely used across industries such as:

  • Chemical industry – acids, solvents, alcohols, and oils
  • Food industry – edible oils, juices, flavors, and dairy
  • Energy sector – fuels, lubricants, and bio-components
  • Pharmaceuticals – raw materials and intermediates

Their versatility and reliability make ISO tank containers an essential element of modern liquid logistics.

Customized solutions and additional services

Beyond standard models, many suppliers provide additional services tailored to specific operational requirements, including:

  • Inspection, maintenance, and re-certification
  • Technical modifications and upgrades
  • Cleaning, renovation, and refurbishment
  • Rental and leasing options for short- or long-term projects
